Our agency need is one full-time RN.  With a smaller case load, you will get to know our clients and staff.  We are looking for an individual that has passion for caring and an interest in making a difference. This truly is meaningful work!

Job Title:  Kokua Nursing Staff

Snapshot of tasks include but are not limited to: Continued medical success for skin care, tube feeding, catheter care, UTI's, attending to medical appointments, liaison when clients are at the ER, attending care plan meetings and helping with new referrals to Kokua.

Supervisor:    Client Support Program Coordinator

Role:     The Kokua Nursing Staff provide support for the Client Support Program Coordinator and the Kokua work teams to ensure the health and safety of individuals served by Kokua. The primary focus of the Nursing Staff should be to help ensure optimal medical care for Kokua clients.

Qualifications:  A current Washington State licensure as an RN.  Malpractice insurance.  Must demonstrate well- developed communication skills and be able to work effectively with self-directed work teams.  Must be able to prioritize work and meet deadlines.  Must be adept at working with little supervision.  Must work to hold staff and client confidentiality standards.  Must have professional writing skills.


  • Oversight over client medication records and administration.
  • Oversight over client health record charting.
  • Meet with new client referrals and support the process of agency transition.
  • Perform skin care checks as appropriate.
  • Perform vital checks on a weekly basis.
  • Check all diabetic supplies and assist teams to obtain supplies as needed.
  • Work with the pharmacy regarding any medication errors or questions.
  • Maintains client confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Maintains nursing supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies; using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Attend care facility discharge and transition meetings/appointments.
  • Attend client medical appointments as requested or appropriate.  During these appointments work with medical staff on follow up care plans.
  • Attend all Service Coordination Team Meetings.
  • Performs assessment and reassessment of the client's physical condition and nursing needs; develops, implements and communicates client's Plan of Care with patient.  Sets goals, and takes appropriate nursing action to meet those goals.  Ensures client's physical, emotional and rehabilitative needs are met.  Encourages client involvement with their own care.
  • Serves as a single point of contact for referring physicians, clients and caregivers to ensure access to clinical and support care services. Assists the Team Leader with the scheduling of appointments as needed.
  • Assists clients in understanding their diagnosis, treatment options, and the resources available.
  • Reviews all diagnostic imaging studies, lab values, and notifies primary physician as appropriate for abnormal findings.  
  • Recognizes and reports signs and symptoms of abuse and neglect to Residential Care Services and Adult Protective Services.

Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent and be able to read and write English at high school level.

Must be able to pass a criminal background check and have a good driving record. This position requires patience, good judgment and a willingness to learn new skills.
